The Pontian history
The Pontians have a rich history that goes back to Ancient Greece. Everything started when Ionians moved to the Black Sea coastline (today's Turkey) where they founded historic cities like Synopis (today's Synop) and Trapezounda (today's Trabson). The 3000 years that the Pontians identify themselves with Evxinos Pontos (the Black Sea) is contain everything from great education centres, commercial cities, fishing industry but also 400 years of Ottoman tyrrany, 1922's Pontos and Asia Minor catastrophy and the massmurders during the period between the two world wars.

Our association, just like all Pontian associations and organisations throughout the world, is trying to preserve this history together with our customs and traditions so that the younger generations (and our societies) gets the knowledge so that nothing is forgotten in history. We have compiled a 11 page summary where we present the most important parts of our history.
